You're invited to a beginner mead making workshop!  This workshop is designed for the first-time mead maker, and some of what you need will be provided.  No honey yet?  We have you covered.

This class is limited to members and registration is $5.  Also, please attend if you register, or cancel if you are unable to attend.  We will incorporate a waitlist if the class is full.

This workshop will be conducted in two parts:

For the first part there will be a lesson on mead.  We'll cover just what mead is, its various styles, as well as the methods, supplies, and equipment used.  This lesson will be introductory for a basic understand of how to make a simple Traditional Mead.  It won't get too advanced since this is a beginner workshop, but you should get a good foundation to then build upon for future learning and experimentation.

After this lesson, for the second part of the workshop, you will start your own batch of mead with our assistance and guidance that you will take home with you.  A list of requisite supplies is below for reference.  If you do not bring with you the items listed as required you won't be able to get your batch started.

We will be providing the requisite sanitizer, yeast, and nutrient for all participants.  Honey will be provided for all participants unless they would prefer to use their own (in which case bring 3lbs of your preferred honey).

Required items to bring to the workshop:

- 1 Gallon Fermentation container w/ rubber stopper and airlock (carboy, jar, or bucket style are all acceptable)
- Ladle for stirring (if using a jar or bucket style fermenter. Not necessary for carboy)
- 1 Gallon spring water (NOT DISTILLED WATER)

Recommended items to bring to the workshop:

- Hydrometer w/ cylinder
- Funnel (if using carboy type fermenter)

Items you will need to use after the workshop, which will be covered in the lesson:

- No rinse sanitizer (recommend Star San)
- Siphon system (either racking cane or auto siphon.  Auto Siphon is recommended)
- Stabilizers
