7:00 PM:  Varroa Management with Greg MorrisonThis month's meeting will feature our very own Greg Morrison, providing a presentation on Varroa Management.  We will begin the program a bit early to ensure we have plenty of time to hear from Greg on how all of us can successfully manage varroa mites in our honey bee colonies.

Greg Morrison’s beekeeping began at Christmas in 2014 when his wife surprised him with a package of bees, starter set of equipment and lessons.  Although, he had never been around beekeeping, his wife states it “took on a life of its own”! Greg joined both the NCSBA and WCBA in 2015 and has served as Director and Sergeant-at-Arms of the WCBA. He has attended numerous Spring and Summer NCSBA Meetings, the first BEES Academy in the Fall of 2019 and other regional conferences. Greg earned the Journeyman Beekeeper certification through the NCSBA’s Master Beekeeper Program in 2022.  Greg thoroughly enjoys the different mindset needed for beekeeping, the network of bee “helpers” and how the bees will constantly keep you humble. He currently helps ten colonies in one out yard about a mile from his home and is actively looking for a 2nd site (WCBA’s Zone 1). He is a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, has served as a Deacon, Chair of Stewardship and Associate Treasurer. Greg’s best friend is his wife, Ann, and he also cherishes his precious time with their grandchildren, friends and the outdoors. He hikes locally and has backpacked over 650 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
